Call for Papers
ICALP 2001 Satellite Workshop on
Algorithmic MeThods
and Models for Optimization of
RailwayS
ATMOS 2001
13 July 2001, Crete, Greece
Efficient solution of railway optimization problems requires a coordinated
interdisciplinary effort from various areas in mathematical optimization and
theoretical computer science, including graph and network algorithms, theory
of computation, approximation algorithms, formal methods, foundations of
software engineering, combinatorial optimization, and algorithm engineering.
The goal of the workshop is to provide a forum for the exchange and dissemination
of new ideas, techniques, and research in the field of railway optimization.
In particular, the workshop is meant to bring together researchers from the above areas
interested in all aspects of algorithmic methods and models for railway optimization,
including those interested in formal software specification and implementation methods,
and in formal domain and knowledge models of railway systems.
ATMOS 2001 collocates with
ICALP 2001
and is part of the exciting conference activities
held on 4-13 July in Crete (SPAA 2001,
STOC 2001,
ICALP 2001)
organized by the Computer Technology Institute.
The workshop is supported by the Human Potential Programme
of EU under contract no. HPRN-CT-1999-00104 (project
AMORE).
Topics
Papers are solicited in all aspects of algorithmic methods and models
for railway optimization problems including (but not limited to):
- Time Table Information
- Time Table Generation
- Time Table on Demand (Disposition)
- Railway Crew Scheduling and Rostering
- Rolling Stock Scheduling
- Line Planning
- Infrastructure and Rolling Stock Planning
- Maintenance and Shunting of Rolling Stock
- Pricing Systems
- Simulation Tools
Submissions
Authors are invited to submit electronically an extended abstract
(max 10 pages) including their fax number and e-mail address.
If authors feel that additional details are necessary, they may
include them in a clearly marked appendix, which will be read at the discretion
of the program committee. The details of the
electronic submission process
are now available. Authors who are unable to submit electronically
should contact the Program Chair at
zaro@ceid.upatras.gr
to receive instructions. Do not send
electronic submissions to this email address.
The extended abstract must be received by April 4, 2001.
Authors will be sent notification of acceptance or rejection by email
after April 30, 2001.
Proceedings
The proceedings of the workshop will be published in a single volume
collecting the contributions to all satellite workshops of ICALP 2001.
The volume will be published in the
Electronic Notes in Theoretical
Computer Science series of Elsevier
and a printed version will be distributed to all participants of the workshop.
A final copy of each accepted paper is required by May 15, 2001.
A special issue of the Journal
of Discrete Algorithms
will be devoted to selected papers from this workshop.
