Death Resolution

The Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics  (CEID) of the University of Patras has assembled in an extraordinary meeting after hearing the sad news of the passing away of Dimitrios Lainiotis, Emeritus Professor of the Department, distinguished scientist of international stature, first professor of the Department, former professor and associate director of the research center of the University of Texas at Austin, former chairman of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the State University of New York at Buffalo, and after listening to the Chairman of the Department who praised the character and ethos of the deceased, his contributions to science and to the development of the Department, decided:

1. To express the condolences of the Department to the family of the deceased.
2. To be represented at the funeral by the Chairman and Governing Council of the Department.
3. Instead of a funeral wreath, to donate an amount for the award of scholarship at his memory.
4. To take further actions that will honour his memory.
5. To publish this resolution in the Press.
