Τίτλος: Finding Patterns in Temporal Networks
Περίληψη: Networks (or, graphs) are a natural model for representing entities and their relationships. Examples include social, biological, transaction and traffic networks. Such networks are not static but evolve with time. This talk presents our recent research on finding interesting patterns in temporal networks including (a) locating the most durable matches of a graph pattern query, (b) identifying lasting dense subgraphs, and (c) finding motifs (i.e., subgraphs appearing more often than expected) that have a significant amount of flow.
Σχετικά με τον ομιλητή: Evaggelia Pitoura is a Professor at the Computer Science and Engineering Department of the University of Ioannina, Greece where she also leads the Distributed Management of Data (DMOD) lab. She received a BSc degree from the University of Patras, Greece, and an MSc and PhD degree from Purdue University, USA. Her research interests are in the area of data management systems with a recent emphasis on responsible data management (addressing issues of diversity, bias and fairness), social networks and temporal graphs. Her publications include more than 150 articles in international journals and conferences and a highly-cited book on mobile computing. She has served or serves on the editorial board of ACM TODS, VLDBJ, TKDE and DAPD. She has served as a group leader, senior PC member and co-chair of many international conferences, including PC chair of EDBT 2016 and PC co-chair of ICDE 2012. She is the recipient of three best paper awards (ICDE 1999, DBSocial 2013, PVLDB 2013), a Marie Currie Fellowship (2009) and two Recognition of Service Awards from ACM. Since 2018, she serves on the National Council for Research and Innovation, Sectorial Scientific Council on Information and Communication Technologies and Mathematics.
