A postdoctoral Research Fellow position is available within UCL’s Computer Science Department (London, UK) to work with Dr Vasileios Lampos and Prof. Ingemar J. Cox.
The purpose of this post is to (a) develop models for national and subnational COVID-19 prevalence using web searches, (b) investigate anomaly detection models to identify hotspots with diverging search behaviour, (c) understand how COVID-19 might have impacted vulnerable populations, and (d) publish the outcomes in peer-reviewed journals or relevant computer science conferences.
The successful candidate must have a PhD in a relevant subject, with experience in machine learning and, ideally, in natural language processing as well. Previous experience on public health topics is a desired skill given the rapid pace that will be required for this research project.

This position is supported by Google Health and a novel data set release of Google search data. It is funded for 2 years in the first instance.
