Professor Paul Spirakis has been appointed the new President of the European Association for Theoretical Computer Science. The European Association for Theoretical Computer Science (EATCS) is the priemer international organization for Theoretical Computer Science, established in 1972. Its aim is to facilitate the exchange of ideas and results among theoretical computer scientists as well as to stimulate cooperation between the theoretical and the practical community in computer science. It is the first time that a Greek academic is appointed as president of EATCS.
This constitutes a major distinction demonstrating the international scientific reputation and recognition of Prof. Spirakis, while it cements and further enhances the prime international profile of the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics in the field of Computer Science and Engineering.
