Symposium on Matrix Methods and Scientific Computing in Honor of Emeritus Professor Stratis Gallopoulos

On June 4–5, 2026, the Department of Computer Engineering and Informatics of the University of Patras had the great pleasure of organizing the “Symposium on Matrix Methods and Scientific Computing” in honor of our esteemed colleague, Professor Stratis Gallopoulos.

The two-day symposium was a significant scientific gathering that brought together members of the academic community, researchers, collaborators, students, and alumni from Greece and abroad. The talks and discussions covered a broad range of topics related to matrix methods, scientific computing, parallel processing, and their modern applications.

The event offered an excellent opportunity to honor Professor Gallopoulos’s long-standing and substantial contributions to computational science, to the development of research at CEID, and to the education, mentoring, and support of successive generations of students, researchers, and collaborators.

At the same time, the symposium was a celebration of scientific continuity, collaboration, and academic service, highlighting the Department’s strong ties to the Greek and international scientific computing community.

We warmly thank all speakers, participants, and everyone who contributed to the event’s success.
