We are delighted to announce that following the Department’s recommendation to the Engineering School Council and the University Senate and their unanimous approval, on June 4, 2026, Yousef Saad, CSE Distinguished Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering of the University of Minnesota, will be awarded the title of Επίτιμος Διδάκτωρ (Doctor Honoris Causa) of the Computer Engineering & Informatics Department of the University of Patras.
Yousef Saad’s contributions to the fields of Numerical Linear Algebra and Scientific Computing have been numerous, fundamental, and far-reaching. Less widely known, however, is the fact that over the years he has taught, mentored, and collaborated with several graduates and members of the University of Patras. For this reason, the Department will be especially proud to confer upon him this distinction and to welcome him among the recipients of its Doctor Honoris Causa awards.
